Accidents Happen

Well it wouldn't be a year in the Kenny house if Andrea DIDN'T have some kind of accident. True to form, the day after Christmas, Andrea tripped and fell.

To back up a little bit. Christmas was really nice. Miriam enjoyed her first Christmas, especially trying to eat the wrapping paper and bows. She did so well opening up her presents and staying awake and happy for most of the festivities. We even made it to Midnight Mass (Technically 10pm) at Garber House and she slept right through it.  Christmas was a success. Enjoy some Miriam Christmas pictures.

The evening after Christmas, Miriam was tucked safely into bed and we were planning on doing a massive apartment cleaning before bed. Andrea got up from the computer and the computer cord wrapped around her two left toes pulling tight when she moved, sending her flying and landing directly on her left ribs.

Since it was 11pm on Sunday night, and Andrea knew she wasn't dying, we waited til the next morning to see the doctor. Well the doctor sent us to the ER. The ER in Oakland is all well and good if you have been shot or stabbed, but broken ribs are not high on their priority list. So after a total of 10 hours in the ER and a very cranky baby, Andrea had 2 fractured ribs and contusions (really bad bruising that she can't put weight on) on her left foot. Andrea's spleen turned out fine, thank God, because they were worried about swelling. She just needs time, rest, and good pain medication!

Peggy (Brendan's Mom) is helping through New Years Eve and Andrea's sister Mindy will be flying out to help on January 7th. We are asking for prayers that Andrea recovers quickly and can once again pick up and take care of our little munchkin. It is very stressful to not be able to do simple tasks like feeding and changing Miriam or even walk unassisted. Prayers for patience and recovery are greatly appreciated!

That is all for now and we hope to post about happier news in the near future!
